Giving
2 Corinthians 8:9 - "For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich."
Money is one of the most misunderstood things in all Christianity. Jesus talked about money more than love, forgiveness and hell. While our words are incredibly important and our time is a gift we can give to others, perhaps nothing reveals our hearts more than what we do with our money (Matt.6:21,24).
Because of what Christ has done for us, we choose to give cheerfully and sacrificially of our finances as an extension of our worship. One of the primary ways we serve God is by cheerfully giving God our “firstfruits” (2 Corinthians 9:7; Proverbs 3:9). We call our brothers and sisters to give, not by meeting some obligatory percentage, but gladly sacrificing for the sake of the gospel because Jesus sacrificed for us, and all we have is His.
